Compensation: $21-$25/hr DOE

The Behavioral Support Specialist is responsible for providing educational and behavioral assistance to children and adults with special needs. This role involves collaboration with educational professionals and behavioral experts to meet individual learning and behavioral objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to guidance from the BCBA, educators, and program supervisors.
  • Applies behavior management strategies including prevention, intervention, and consequence techniques.
  • Delivers crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Reviews and executes behavior intervention plans.
  • Implements tasks related to behavioral and ABA goals outlined in an IEP under instructor supervision.
  • Assists in delivering academic instruction as directed by the educator.
  • Supports the development plans for SLP, OT, and PT.
  • Documents sessions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Accurately collects behavioral and academic data.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters.
  • Facilitates the development of independent daily living skills through self-care activities.
  • Provides support to students in various environments (classroom, playground, lunchroom, gym, sensory room, library, etc.).
  • Performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred: Two (2) years of experience working with children.
  • Adheres to all relevant professional standards.
  • Completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
  • Must comply with all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English are required.
  • Computer skills are necessary.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
