The Assistant Director of Health Information Management is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) Coding department at BronxCare Health System. This role requires a strong understanding of healthcare operations, coding practices, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Management: Provide strategic direction and oversight to the HIM Coding department, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Coding and Data Management: Ensure accurate and timely coding of patient records, maintaining high-quality data for revenue cycle management and quality improvement initiatives.
- Staff Development and Training: Develop and implement training programs for HIM staff, focusing on coding best practices, regulatory compliance, and technical skills.
- Quality Improvement and Risk Management: Collaborate with the Quality Improvement team to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to reduce denials and improve coding accuracy.
- Communication and Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, and other department leaders, to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Health Information Management or a related field.
- Certifications: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification.
- Experience: 3-5 years of progressive experience in health information management, with a focus on coding, data analysis, and leadership.
- Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and develop strategic plans.
