Job Responsibilities:
This position involves underwriting credit exposure for less complex credit relationships and managing a Middle Market and CML portfolio. Responsibilities include daily client interactions, risk management of the portfolio, and adherence to regulatory and compliance standards. A key aspect of this role is the early identification of potential credit issues and industry trends.

Key Duties:
  • Underwriting: Oversee the commercial underwriting process, both internally and occasionally with clients. Evaluate, structure, and document all client transactions.

    Demonstrate expertise in client and industry analysis, assessing company performance and the effects of industry dynamics and macroeconomic factors on creditworthiness.

    Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements, forecasts, and business strategies; identify and mitigate risks.

    Propose suitable loan structures while maintaining knowledge of the bank's ancillary products, including legal documentation implications.

    Ensure compliance with risk evaluation and regulatory requirements. Specialized underwriting skills may be necessary for various Truist product offerings.
  • Portfolio Management: Responsible for managing an assigned portfolio by monitoring performance and trends, proactively defining credit solutions, and addressing issues. Ensure integrity in risk ratings, conduct annual reviews, and manage compliance and regulatory assessments.
  • Client Engagement: Foster client relationships through direct engagement. Collaborate with internal product partners to apply credit policy knowledge to develop solutions that align with client needs and the Bank's risk criteria.
  • Industry Expertise: Collaborate closely with Investment Banking colleagues to deliver complex financing solutions to Commercial Clients, maintaining extensive knowledge of corporate, investment, and commercial banking solutions, along with market trends.
  • Team Leadership: Manage tasks with the support of assigned Associates and Analysts. Mentor and guide junior team members, including participation in performance evaluations.
  • Decision-Making Authority: Responsible for providing independent risk assessments on clients within the assigned portfolio. Author risk recommendations subject to final approval by the designated risk officer.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Handle complex cases and larger portfolios, requiring a developed independent perspective and recommendations to decision-makers.
  • Project Management: Manage a substantial portfolio of Middle Market clients while taking a leadership role in initiatives that enhance the PM platform.

Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial credit analysis.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Preferred:
• Previous experience in a similar role within a commercial financial institution.
• Expertise in specific industries or sectors.
• Familiarity with Truist Bank operating systems and commercial applications.
