Fire Sprinkler System Inspector

Job Summary:

The Fire Sprinkler System Inspector will be responsible for conducting routine inspections, testing, and documenting deficiencies of fire sprinkler systems and other fire safety product lines. This role requires strong technical knowledge and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections, tests, and document deficiencies of fire sprinkler systems and other fire safety product lines according to prescribed processes.
  • Verify proper operation and prepare accurate and timely documentation of work that needs to be performed.
  • Prepare inspection/deficiency reports for submission to management.
  • Interface with service management to ensure that all work is scheduled/handled.
  • Interface with customers to explain work to be performed and answer their questions.
  • Resolve customer concerns as quickly and effectively as possible.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and a positive customer experience.
  • Maintain and organize truck inventory (parts and tools) to ensure proper response to customers' needs.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of High School/Vocational training.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in inspections of wet and dry fire sprinklers, fire pumps, and pre-action systems.
  • Full understanding of the test methods and frequencies in NFPA 25 and local codes that apply to fire sprinkler inspections.
  • Ability to discern all deficiencies in the systems being inspected.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to clear a drug screening.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • NICET Level I or equivalent in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems.
  • NICET Level II in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems within one (1) year.
  • Required certification in backflows and fire pumps and dry systems.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and harsh work environments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, twist, use hands to handle, reach with hands and arms, push, pull, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and hear.
  • Use vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth, and color.
  • Work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions/circumstances such as with ladders, scaffolding, high lift equipment, wires, ducts, crawl spaces, attics, above ceilings, etc.
  • Lift, move, and hold up to approximately 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work a full-time, flexible schedule with 'on call availability' and must be able to travel on short notice.
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle (day and evenings) for extended time periods.
