The Commonwealth of Virginia is pleased to present an exceptional opportunity for a Fiscal Technician within our esteemed organization. This role is essential in delivering financial and operational support services to our Business Support Section.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Maintaining, calculating, and validating financial data within a management system for various transactions, including payroll, accounts payable, procurement, and travel expenses.
- Interpreting relevant policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Reviewing transactions for accuracy, completeness, and necessary approvals while engaging with both internal and external stakeholders to resolve any discrepancies.
- Generating financial reports, analyzing system-generated data, and executing queries for data retrieval.
- Managing file maintenance, including purging and disposing of records in accordance with established guidelines.
- Entering and verifying inventory data within financial systems to ensure transaction accuracy.
- Assisting with additional tasks as needed to support the Business Support function.
All employees may be required to work during emergencies, including weekends and holidays, with assignments varying based on organizational needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- A foundational understanding of accounting principles and practices sufficient for data monitoring and analysis.
- Knowledge of time and leave reporting regulations.
- Experience with data entry in automated financial systems and generating financial reports.
- Proficiency in file management adhering to established protocols.
- Basic mathematical skills and proficiency in using computers and software applications, including MS Office and financial systems.
Additional Considerations
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience with GAAP, governmental accounting, internal controls, and compliance.
- Familiarity with accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Experience in account reconciliations and discrepancy resolution.
- A high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to fulfill the job's responsibilities.
