Position Summary:
The Lead Engineer for Special Inspections is a Licensed Civil Engineer (PE) responsible for overseeing CME's contracted special inspections and structural testing as the project engineer in charge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and manage the Project Special Inspections Program from inception.
- Provide consultancy on construction-related challenges, failures, or issues.
- Participate in pre-installation meetings and communicate Inspection Program requirements to the team.
- Conduct technical reviews of test and inspection reports to ensure compliance with construction contract documents and New York Building Codes.
- Perform on-site inspections and document findings.
- Certify the Inspection/Testing Program upon project completion.
- Act as a liaison with Registered Design Professionals and Code Enforcement Officials.
- Serve as the Owner's Agent in implementing the Special Inspections Program, ensuring public safety.
- Manage the non-conformance list and prepare project test and inspection plans.
- Assist in preventing construction material failures and workmanship issues.
- Provide technical supervision, evaluations, and mentorship to engineering technologists and inspectors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or current Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the objective of obtaining PE.
- Familiarity with building codes and standards related to special inspections and structural testing.
- A professional demeanor that is friendly, straightforward, diplomatic, and communicative.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions in line with established policies and regulations.
