Job Overview

CME Associates, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to serve as the project engineer in-responsible-charge of our contracted special inspections and structural tests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and manage the Project Special Inspections Program
  • Provide technical expertise on construction-related problems, failures, or issues
  • Attend pre-installation conferences and communicate Inspection Program requirements
  • Review test/inspection reports for compliance with construction contract documents and New York Building Codes
  • Perform on-site inspections and report results
  • Certify the Inspection/Testing Program at project completion
  • Act as liaison with Registered Design Professionals and Code Enforcement Officials
  • Exercise duty of care to the public as Owner's Agent
  • Manage non-conformance list, prepare project test & inspection plans
  • Assist in preventing construction material failures and workmanship problems
  • Provide technical supervision, evaluations, and mentorship to engineering technologists and inspectors

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or current Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with goal of earning PE
  • Experience with building codes and standards governing special inspections and structural tests
  • Strong business demeanor, communication skills, and ability to work independently
