Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Office Support Specialist II to join our team. This role will provide administrative support to the Special Events Department, assisting with event coordination, permitting, and staff costs. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Special Events Department, including event coordination, permitting, and staff costs.
  • Assist with processing special event applications and permits.
  • Process and track DCR staffing costs.
  • Work regular scheduled Monday-Friday work hours (hybrid) and have the opportunity to work on-site to assist with events during various hours and days of the week or weekends.
  • Create reports and/or spreadsheets for Special Events as requested.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to write concisely and express thoughts clearly.
  • Ability to use proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to prepare documents and reports accurately.
  • Ability to assist customers of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to follow guidelines and procedures.
  • Knowledge of software applications such as Outlook, Teams, and Microsoft Excel.

Requirements

  • At least three years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in administrative work.
  • Associate's or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management, or public administration may be substituted for up to two years of experience.
