Senior Human Resources Specialist Talent Acquisition/Classification

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Office of Human Resources, is seeking an experienced human resources professional to provide advanced-level human resource services in a high-volume, fast-paced HR office. The successful candidate will be responsible for talent acquisition, classification and compensation, training and development, and policy development and interpretation.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with request to fill documents, post jobs, screen applicants, and prepare interview documents
- Represent the agency at career fairs and ensure all policies and procedures related to talent acquisition are followed
- Research and complete position classification audits, assist with Employee Work Profiles and Physical Demand Worksheets, and conduct salary analyses
- Develop and facilitate training programs, policy development and interpretation, and travel to other VDACS offices as needed
- Advanced technical knowledge of human resource management principles and practices
- Progressively responsible experience in human resources, ideally in talent acquisition, classification and compensation, training and development, and policy development and interpretation
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and internal consulting skills
- Ability to prepare and present training programs and materials, create and maintain business partner relationships, and analyze information and personnel situations
- Demonstrated proficiency using computers, Microsoft Office applications, and other software
- Related education, training, and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Proven experience in human resources at progressively responsible levels, preferably in state or local government
- Basic working knowledge of state software systems and current professional human resources certification
