Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Juvenile Detention Officer. As a key member of our facility, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of youths in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct supervision to youths in a 24-hour detention facility, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to promote personal awareness and responsibility among youths.
  • Makes critical judgments and decisions during crisis situations, informing supervisors of problems and documenting actions.
  • Discipline youths by enforcing facility rules, documenting behavior, and forwarding information to appropriate personnel.
  • Assume backup duties as necessary, including administering medications, transporting youths, and processing intake assessments or discharges.
  • Conduct inspections, rounds, and drills, including room checks and physical searches of youths.
  • Transport youths to and from appointments and coordinate daily educational and entertaining programs and activities.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited high school/GED program.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and establish working relationships with employees, departments, and the public.
  • Must obtain First Aid/CPR Certification within 90 days of hire and possess a valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Pass an extensive background investigation and mandatory drug testing.
