The UCLA Clinical Microbiology Fellowship is structured to deliver extensive training to exceptionally qualified individuals aiming for leadership roles in clinical microbiology or public health laboratories. The training content and duration are customized for each fellow based on their distinct backgrounds and aspirations. Typically, the fellowship spans two years, with training focused on major areas as recommended by the ABMM-CPEP. The primary training occurs within the UCLA Clinical Microbiology laboratory, complemented by clinical exposure at affiliated medical centers.
Applications are welcomed from candidates holding advanced degrees such as PhD, ScD, MD, DrPH, DVM, DO, or DDS, who are U.S. citizens or possess a valid immigration visa allowing employment for over a year.
Eligible applicants must have completed their doctoral studies within the last decade and should not have accumulated more than three years of postdoctoral research experience (excluding medical residencies or clinical roles). International candidates must have their academic transcripts evaluated by recognized members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) prior to obtaining a training license.

QualificationsBasic Qualifications
Applications are considered from qualified candidates with PhD, ScD, MD, DrPH, DVM, DO, or DDS degrees who are U.S. citizens or hold a valid immigration visa that permits employment for more than one year. Applicants must have completed their doctoral degrees within the past 10 years and have no more than three years of cumulative postdoctoral research experience (NOT including medical residencies or clinical appointments).
