Bammy's Modern Caribbean Restaurant, located at the Navy Yards, is seeking a skilled and passionate chef to create authentic Caribbean meals for our patrons. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning our menu, ensuring that each dish is nutritious and cost-effective, and collaborating with a team of kitchen staff to deliver food that meets the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Menu Planning and Execution: Develop and implement menus that showcase our Caribbean cuisine, taking into account budget constraints and seasonal ingredient availability.
  • Kitchen Operations: Oversee all kitchen activities, ensuring that food is prepared and served in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Team Leadership: Coordinate and motivate kitchen staff, providing guidance and support as needed to ensure seamless kitchen operations.
  • Inventory Management: Track inventory levels, place orders, and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Quality Control: Enforce safety and sanitation standards, ensuring that all food meets our high quality standards.
  • Menu Innovation: Develop new recipes and menu items to keep our offerings fresh and exciting.
  • Industry Trends: Stay up-to-date with the latest culinary trends and techniques, applying this knowledge to enhance our menu and kitchen operations.
  • Feedback and Improvement: Receive feedback from customers and staff, using this information to make improvements and enhancements to our menu and kitchen operations.
Requirements:
  • Culinary Education: Possess a culinary school degree or diploma.
  • Caribbean Cooking Expertise: Have a strong background in Caribbean cooking and a passion for creating authentic dishes.
  • Culinary Arts Knowledge: Possess advanced knowledge of the culinary arts, including menu planning, kitchen operations, and food safety.
  • Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of kitchen staff.
  • Inventory Management: Have experience with inventory management, including tracking inventory levels and placing orders.
  • Quality Control: Possess a strong commitment to quality control, ensuring that all food meets our high standards.
  • Menu Innovation: Be able to develop new recipes and menu items, staying up-to-date with the latest culinary trends and techniques.
  • Feedback and Improvement: Be able to receive feedback and use it to make improvements and enhancements to our menu and kitchen operations.
