Key ResponsibilitiesThe Multi-Craft Technician role is a specialized position that requires advanced training in electrical design, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair work. Candidates must exhibit strong leadership qualities and adhere to company standards, including maintaining an excellent attendance record.
Essential Duties Include:
- Executing tasks that necessitate a comprehensive understanding of electrical theory, National Electrical Code (NEC), material properties, and operational principles of electrical systems. Responsible for the safe startup and shutdown of equipment in compliance with company safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Utilizing electrical testing instruments (such as voltmeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes, megohmmeters, and power supplies) to identify faults in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical devices.
- Troubleshooting intricate circuits across various voltage levels and printed circuit boards.
- Possessing knowledge of AC and DC drive systems, with the ability to communicate with manufacturers for parameter programming.
- Diagnosing and resolving issues with servo drive systems.
- Handling high-voltage systems up to 480 volts three-phase and 500 volts DC, as well as low-voltage control circuits.
- Servicing electronic devices by inspecting, testing, and replacing defective components, circuits, and printed circuit boards.
- Understanding low and high voltage electrical systems and basic wiring techniques.
- Measuring, cutting, threading, pulling, and installing electrical conduits, along with using hand and power tools relevant to the trade.
- Fabricating custom parts using standard machine and hand tools.
- Reading and interpreting mechanical prints and technical specifications during installation and repair tasks.
- Repairing components that require minor machining and utilizing welding equipment as necessary.
- Identifying equipment and material requirements for projects and interpreting blueprints and schematics.
- Collaborating with Maintenance and Production Supervisors/Managers on project needs.
- Demonstrating effective communication skills with management, employees, and contractors, while providing leadership in compliance with safety programs.
- Maintaining knowledge of electrical terminology, materials, methods, tools, and equipment used in the inspection, repair, installation, service, and maintenance of electrical systems.
- Assisting in the training and skill development of other maintenance personnel and production associates.
- Participating in plant emergencies as required and maintaining necessary certifications and training.
- Willingness to engage in job-related educational courses and training programs to enhance skills for career advancement.
- Performing additional duties of a similar nature and level of responsibility as needed.
- Minimum of five years of industrial experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics, diagnosing and rectifying equipment failures.
- Experience in precision equipment alignments.
- Working knowledge of fabrication, installation, and maintenance of production and support equipment.
- Maintaining a non-disciplinary status regarding job performance and attendance.
- Ability to take responsibility and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Meeting testing and training requirements satisfactorily.
- Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
- Willingness to wear protective equipment as required.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, overtime, and occasional weekends.
- Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting and programming.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Familiarity with troubleshooting industrial automation equipment.
