Job Summary:

This is a clerical position that involves the processing and tracking of insurance claims, ensuring timely payment and accurate billing. The successful candidate will work closely with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to resolve claims and account issues.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and track insurance claims, ensuring timely payment and accurate billing.
  • Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to resolve claims and account issues.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and billing information.
  • Participate in professional development efforts to stay current with healthcare practices and trends.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers.
  • Work effectively in a team environment to achieve departmental goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • High school graduation or equivalent required; RHIT certification preferred.
  • Minimum one year of medical billing experience; typing ability and computer skills required.
  • Knowledge of medical diagnostic coding systems, medical terminology, and insurance practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Work Environment:
Office setting, well-ventilated and well-lit. Work involves frequent telephone contact with patients and healthcare providers. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.

Physical/Mental Demands:
Normal office environment. Work is typically performed at a desk or table requiring the use of standard office equipment. Intermittent sitting, standing, and stooping. May view computer screen for long periods of time. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.
