Insurance Aging Claim Specialist

Reports to: Office Manager/Dental Administrator
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Insurance Aging Claims Specialist to join our dental team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and resolving outstanding insurance claims, ensuring timely payment, and optimizing revenue cycle efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Claims Management:
- Review and analyze outstanding insurance claims (aging reports) to identify delays or issues.
- Investigate and resolve claim disputes, denials, or rejections.
- Verify patient eligibility, coverage, and benefits.
- Ensure accurate and complete claim submissions.
Communication:
Liaise with insurance companies, patients, and dental staff to resolve claims issues.
Provide timely updates on claim status to patients and the dental team.
Respond to patient inquiries regarding insurance claims.
Data Entry and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of claims submissions, payments, and correspondence.
- Update practice management software (PMS) with claim status and payment information.
Analysis and Reporting:
- Generate and analyze aging reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Provide regular reports to management on claims status, resolution rates, and revenue impact.
Other Responsibilities:
- Stay up-to-date on insurance policies, procedures, and industry changes.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in dental insurance claims management.
- Strong knowledge of dental insurance policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficiency in dental practice management software (e.g., Eaglesoft, Dentrix).
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Dental Insurance Specialist (CDIS) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) certification.
- Experience with electronic claims submission and insurance software.
- Familiarity with OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
