The primary role of the Manufacturing Engineer based in Decatur, AL is to ensure the unit operates safely, reliably, and efficiently.

This engineer is accountable for the operational performance of the unit, which encompasses production metrics, raw material consumption, energy efficiency, quality assurance, daily performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and fundamental unit optimization.

The manufacturing engineer contributes significant value to the organization by enhancing real-time unit performance in these critical areas.
TARGETED OUTCOMES
• Attain expertise in the designated unit.
• Comprehend the unit control strategy, including the alarm system.
• Identify opportunities and formulate plans to enhance operational ownership and performance metrics in the assigned unit.
• Cultivate relationships that enable influence across the organization to drive performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Exhibit leadership in promoting Ascend's zero-incident safety culture through safe work practices and operator involvement.

• Foster excellent collaborative relationships with Operations, Manufacturing, Production & Process Engineering, Reliability, Quality Assurance, Production Planning, and other support teams.

• Design, implement, lead, and advocate for best-in-class and lean/six sigma-based work processes to achieve safety, regulatory compliance, operational cost efficiency, reliability, quality, and other performance objectives aimed at realizing entitlement performance.• Propel a culture of continuous improvement by participating in and guiding cross-functional teams.

• Lead the development and maintenance of a robust pipeline of Six Sigma projects to meet safety, quality, and productivity targets.

• Consistently achieve all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), budgetary, and forecast commitments.
• Manage production plans against Sales Order Inventory Planning to optimize inventory levels.

• Serve as a technical resource for key processes including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA's), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA's), and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA's). Lead Management of Change (MOC's) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA's) as necessary to enhance safety and unit performance.

• Ensure adherence to quality standards consistently. Act as a representative for manufacturing in identifying and resolving the root causes of customer complaints.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability to plan and execute outages safely and efficiently.
• Partner with the Site Engineering team to develop cost-effective capital projects that align with KPI objectives.
• Provide support in executing technology initiatives that deliver innovative solutions to achieve entitlement performance.

TEAM
Production Manager

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 3 years in chemical manufacturing.
• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.
• Proven ability to work effectively as part of a self-directed team.

• Commitment to safety, environmental, and industrial hygiene practices.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP, and Minitab.
• Ability to distill complex technical issues into understandable terms and economic implications for upper management.

• Demonstrated capability to coach and mentor fellow manufacturing engineers.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with Process Flow Diagrams and P&ID's.
• Ability to create heat and material balances.

• Understanding of basic accounting and plant cost economics.
• Proactive leadership and team-building skills, capable of working effectively across the organization in a dynamic environment.

• Strong sense of ownership and a commitment to enhancing existing systems and processes through innovative approaches.

REQUIRED SKILLS
• Certified Six Sigma Yellow Belt, Green Belt, or Black Belt.
• Knowledge of PSM, Title V, and ISO9001 standards.
• Familiarity with Provox/DeltaV based DCS systems.


Knowledge of quality systems (ISO:
9001) and requirements - able to ensure consistency of operations within established quality system guidelines.
