VP of Global Sourcing for Home Decor

Our client, a leading retailer, is seeking an experienced professional with expertise in global sourcing for home décor. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities for process improvements and managing sourcing and operational projects. This role requires collaboration with merchants, buyers, overseas offices, agents, and direct vendors to share product expertise. The successful candidate will travel internationally for buying trips to maintain relationships and business processes.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement end-to-end product lifecycle processes, advising buyers on technical manufacturing details, cost components, product construction, and calendar/lead times.
- Review and assess processes, making recommendations for enhancement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement end-to-end processes, leveraging new and existing systems or tools to enable effective decision-making and drive compliance.
- Drive continual development and refine workflow, processes, and tools in partnership with the SVP.
- Develop and execute Home Sourcing Strategy (including agent, vendor, COO, and cost strategies) to meet business needs, leverage market conditions, and mitigate risks.
- Monitor and track best/worst sellers, offering new opportunities and making changes to the pipeline as necessary.
- Work with Agents/Owned Offices/Direct Factories.
- Employ global experience and deep country capability knowledge.
- Translate Merchant Strategy into actionable sourcing recommendations, delivering sourcing strategies.
- Demonstrate aspirational taste level with a discerning eye for detail (including packaging).
- Provide established vendor contacts across home and hardgoods factories.
- Communicate development direction.
- Draw upon knowledge of cost engineering, duty engineering, and all other aspects of product costing.
- Understand quality practices and product regulatory requirements.
- Assess product inspection reports and make corrective action recommendations.
- Collaborate with Product Technical Services team on vendor technical capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree
- 8-10+ years previous experience in Home Sourcing
- Required to travel internationally ~30% of the time
- Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships
- Experience using continuous improvement principles to improve operating results
- Aptitude for data gathering and analysis
- Ability to identify critical success factors and simplify complex problems
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills; be comfortable presenting to large groups
- Can communicate/translate requirements easily and effectively between internal and external teams
- Understanding of merchandising practices
- Strong MS Office and Excel skills, with advanced understanding of Excel to guide development of templates.
