Child Assessment Specialist

Westat seeks a Child Assessment Specialist to join our team in the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study (ECLS-K:2024). This is a part-time, variable hour position that requires bilingual skills in English and Spanish. The selected candidate will conduct in-person child assessments at schools or participant's homes and conduct telephone or in-person parent interviews.
Job DescriptionThe ECLS-K:2024 study provides comprehensive data about children's learning and development, transition into kindergarten, and progress through elementary school. As a Child Assessment Specialist, you will play a crucial role in collecting this data, which will help inform educational policies and programs.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-person child assessments at schools or participant's homes
- Conduct telephone or in-person parent interviews
- Complete child assessments and parent interviews in both English and Spanish
Requirements:
- Be 18 years old or older (or be an emancipated minor) with the ability to enter binding confidentiality agreements to protect project information
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be available to complete web-based home study parent interview training and attend mandatory in-person out-of-town training in Birmingham, Alabama
- Be fluent in both written and spoken English and Spanish
- Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
Estimated Salary: $25-$35 per hour
Benefits:
- This is a non-exempt position eligible for overtime pay
- Accrue sick leave based on number of hours worked
- Eligible to participate in the 401(k) program (employer matching is dependent on number of hours worked)
