Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor of English as a Second Language to join our team at Frederick Community College. The successful candidate will provide instruction in Basic and/or Targeted English as a Second Language programs and be responsible for delivering face-to-face instruction in English to adult learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver lessons based on student needs, career and learning goals, and/or the established core outcomes of the course.
  • Provide student-centered, interactive instruction that promotes communication in English.
  • Develop and conduct ongoing student assessment.
  • Keep accurate student records, to include attendance and grades.
  • Assist with compliance of grant requirements in areas of professional development, attendance, retention, documentation, and assessment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing technology in instruction.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience teaching ESOL
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a TESOL-related field
  • Experience teaching ESOL
  • Successful experience teaching adult learners
  • Successful experience teaching online or in a blended learning environment
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Ability to work positively and effectively with students from diverse language, cultural, and educational backgrounds
