Job Title: Adjunct Paralegal

Frederick Community College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Paralegal to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Adjunct Paralegal will teach legal studies courses and facilitate student mastery of core learning outcomes using the most relevant and scholarly tools available.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach legal studies courses
  • Facilitate student mastery of core learning outcomes
  • Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of a high-quality curriculum
  • Actively engage students in critical thinking, meta-cognitive processes, and advancement of critical communication skills
  • Model and cultivate open-minded inquiry, an appreciation for diverse perspectives, and creative problem-solving
  • Provide service to the College and community to support and enhance the College mission
  • Serve on committees and participate in department meetings
  • Maintain currency in academic discipline and pedagogy by actively participating in professional organizations at the state, regional, and national levels and by engaging in other professional development opportunities
  • Appreciate and articulate the value of a strong general education program and use that framework to mentor adjunct faculty members and students
  • Uphold and contribute to the achievement of the Frederick Community College Strategic Plan
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's in Law/Legal Studies/Paralegal, Master's in Paralegal, Master's in Laws
  • Experienced working as a paralegal or supervising paralegals
  • Professional experience with the court system, law firms, corporations, governmental/administrative agencies, public interest organizations, or related industries
  • Ability to navigate the developing landscape of the paralegal profession and related industries, including a command of stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate of Jurisprudence
  • Ability to use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multi-cultural workplace and classroom
  • Two years of college teaching experience
  • Experience using online learning management systems such as Blackboard
