Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker III to join our team at Rockingham County, NC. As a key member of our Social Services department, you will be responsible for providing support and assistance to agency clients with personal, social, health, mental health, and economic needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate neglect complaints and interview individuals to assess needs.
  • Develop and implement service plans to meet the needs of clients in areas such as physical/mental health and housing.
  • Handle referrals for counseling and mental health services, and complete home studies and/or home visits on ongoing cases.
  • Testify in criminal and civil court cases, and conduct continuous assessments of client and family needs.
  • Arrange placements in day care centers, foster homes, and adoptive homes, and make referrals for child protective services.
  • Prepare a variety of reports and other types of correspondence, and submit required reports to the State.
  • Coordinate services with other agency services and programs, and review foster care and recruit families for foster care of children.
  • Provide services to women experiencing unwanted or unplanned pregnancies, and assist individuals and their families in arranging for placement via interviews to determine client needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in human services or a related field, and moderate experience in social work in a community setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of department policies and procedures, and applicable local, Federal, and State laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to plan and organize work, and to understand and interpret laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, associates, court staff, law enforcement staff, mental and medical health providers, social agencies, and the general public.
