Key Responsibilities:

The Medical Center is in search of a Physician Assistant (PA-C) to enhance our expanding Thoracic Surgery Team. Our Advanced Practice Provider leaders exemplify the qualities of inspiration and integrity, combining clinical expertise with management skills to significantly contribute to our organization’s success. You will be part of a passionate team of healthcare professionals, equipped with the resources to make a meaningful impact on patient lives. The focus of thoracic surgery is on managing patients with both benign and malignant chest conditions, utilizing minimally invasive techniques and advanced robotic technology to ensure exceptional surgical outcomes.

  • Collaborate closely with supervising physicians while also functioning independently.
  • Conduct pre-operative and post-operative evaluations of patients.
  • Perform consultations to gather pertinent health and medical histories.
  • Execute physical examinations tailored to patient age and history, documenting progress notes for follow-up.
  • Complete orders for preventive and diagnostic procedures based on patient medical history.
  • Assist physicians by conducting screenings, consultations, and follow-up communications with patients.
  • Provide surgical assistance in the operating room.
  • Conduct patient rounds in the hospital, both with physicians and independently, writing orders in various care settings.
  • Monitor patient progress and document daily updates.
  • Maintain effective communication with attending surgeons and consultants regarding patient status before and after discharge.

Qualifications:

Experience:

A minimum of one year of experience as a Physician Assistant, preferably in thoracic surgery, general surgery, reconstructive surgery, or related surgical specialties.

Experience as a first assistant is required.

Familiarity with robotic surgical techniques is advantageous.

Education and Certifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.

Valid California Physician Assistant License.

Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Current DEA license (schedules 2-5).

Current certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
