About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Plans Examiner to join our team at the City of Cape Coral, FL. As a Plans Examiner, you will play a critical role in ensuring that construction plans and projects meet the necessary building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review residential, commercial, and miscellaneous construction and project plans for compliance with established building codes and regulations.
  • Provide support for the Building or Development Services department and maintain necessary certifications according to division of assignment.
  • Ensure compliance with standard building, fire, and zoning codes and regulations.
  • Review and approve/deny various permits and accurately record all approved permits.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Five (5) years of experience in construction industry design, plan review, and inspection field duties.
  • Valid state driver's license and ability to obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire/promotion.
  • Provisional Plans Examiner license issued by the Department of Business and Professional Regulations (DBPR) within ninety (90) days of hire.
  • Plans Examiner I, II, or III license issued by the DBPR, depending on the level of experience and qualifications.
