POSITION SUMMARY

The Certified Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting patients, physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and licensed practical nurses in fulfilling the mission and vision of Community Health Program Inc. The ideal candidate will possess a friendly and welcoming demeanor and may be required to travel to various practices as needed. Weekend availability may be necessary. This position fosters a caring, collaborative, and innovative work environment, aligning with the organization's mission, vision, and values while adhering to compliance protocols and organizational policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet and guide patients to examination rooms; prepare them for their appointments; accurately measure and document vital signs; assist providers in patient intake to facilitate care as per established protocols; support providers during examinations and procedures as required; guide patients post-visit.
  • Perform EKGs on designated patients; prepare lab requests ensuring proper labeling and documentation of specimens; deliver specimens to the appropriate location; retrieve lab results and imaging reports; clean and restock examination rooms as necessary.
  • Administer vaccines (if certified) and maintain professional certification/registration.
  • Update service profiles to meet provider scheduling needs; manage incoming calls, providing information and recording messages; perform clerical tasks as requested; liaise with external agencies as directed by providers.
  • Respond to patient inquiries promptly; pre-register patients during appointment scheduling; gather necessary information for appropriate triage; ensure follow-up appointments are booked as per care plans; cross-train for additional support roles as needed.
  • Review clinical protocols and competencies annually with supervising RN or clinical trainer; maintain CPR certification.

  • Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are advantageous.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this role effectively, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Certified Medical Assistant program.
  • Experience in a medical office setting is preferred, along with familiarity with electronic medical records.
  • Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant in Massachusetts is mandatory.
