POSITION SUMMARY
The Certified Medical Assistant plays a vital role in collaborating with and supporting patients, physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and licensed practical nurses in fulfilling the mission and vision of CHP. The ideal candidate possesses a friendly and approachable demeanor and is open to traveling to various CHP practices as necessary. Weekend availability may be required. This position fosters a work environment characterized by compassion, teamwork, and innovation. The Certified Medical Assistant will uphold CHP's mission, vision, and values while adhering to compliance protocols and organizational policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet and guide patients to examination rooms; prepare patients for consultations; accurately measure and document vital signs; conduct patient intake to assist providers in managing care according to established protocols; support providers during examinations and procedures as needed; guide patients post-visit.
- Administer EKGs for selected patients; prepare laboratory requisitions and ensure proper labeling and documentation for all specimens; transport specimens to designated areas; retrieve laboratory results and imaging reports; clean and restock examination rooms as required.
- Administer vaccinations (if certified) and maintain professional certification/registration.
- Update service profiles to accommodate provider scheduling; manage incoming calls and route them appropriately; provide information to callers and document messages; perform clerical tasks as requested; liaise with external agencies as directed by providers.
- Respond to patient inquiries promptly; pre-register patients during appointment scheduling; gather necessary information to ensure proper triage; facilitate follow-up appointments as dictated by care plans; cross-train for additional patient service and reception duties.
- Review clinical protocols and competencies annually with supervising RN or clinical trainer; maintain CPR certification.

- Possess mathematical skills to perform calculations; resolve practical issues; interpret various forms of instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic formats.
- Demonstrate reliability and punctuality; maintain commitment to scheduled responsibilities.
- Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are advantageous.
QUALIFICATIONS: To be successful in this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with completion of an accredited Certified Medical Assistant program.
- Experience in a medical office setting is preferred, along with familiarity with electronic medical records.
- Certification as a Massachusetts Certified Medical Assistant is mandatory.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Refer to ADA guidelines.
