We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Seasonal Production Laborer to join our team at Martin's Famous Pastry Shoppe. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up, monitoring, and adjusting machines that prepare dough, ensuring the highest quality products for our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and monitor machines, including mixers, SBDs, sheeters, pan lines, ovens, and proofers, to ensure efficient and effective production.
- Weigh dough balls to ensure consistency within specified standards.
- Mix dry and wet ingredients together to create dough, following recipes and guidelines.
- Load ingredients into mixing machine hoppers from conveyor belts, scales, or hand-trucks.
- Monitor and adjust dusting flour to ensure even and consistent coating of dough balls.
- Coat spiral flows with oil and perform pre-operational inspections to report any broken, damaged, or missing equipment to supervisors.
- Assist in resolving pan, oven, or proofer jams to minimize scrap and optimize production.
- Monitor product flow into ovens, recognizing imperfections or problems and taking immediate action to correct them.
- Shake pans to center dough balls in pockets and ensure proper pan rotation in proofers and ovens.
- Set guides for product changeovers and provide production systems with the appropriate type and number of pans for current products.
- Load, unload, and operate pan stackers, pan un-stackers, and de-panning equipment.
- Place empty pans on conveyor systems and set up, monitor, and adjust machines that sprinkle sesame seeds onto dough.
- Load seed tubs by dumping 50-pound bags of seed and sift gluten tailings.
- Maintain a clean work area and remove trash from facilities, loading trash compactors as needed.
- Operate forklifts to supply lines with tubs of mix and adhere to and enforce safety, food safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Related experience in baking or manufacturing industries preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The temperature in the production area may be affected by outside temperatures, and the noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
