Position Overview


The Walsh Group is actively seeking a Craft Training Superintendent to support the Director of Craft Training in managing both internal training programs and collaborations with Registered Apprentice Programs.

This role plays a crucial part in fostering the professional growth of apprentices, helpers, and skilled craft personnel through effective training and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary contact for all levels of craft professionals participating in internal training programs.
  • Act as the main liaison for apprentices enrolled in external Registered Apprentice Programs.
  • Assist the Director in developing craft training curriculum and hands-on training materials.
  • Deliver craft training through various formats including live in-person, online, and recorded sessions.
  • Support the Director in creating and implementing leadership training for foremen.
  • Conduct craft training for entry-level employees covering essential construction skills (tool usage, print reading, construction math, safety, etc.).
  • Facilitate advanced training for journey-level employees based on specialty areas (Concrete, Pipe, Steel, etc.), including tool usage and installation techniques.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching for craft professionals at all levels.
  • Support divisional recruiting events as needed.
  • Maintain reporting responsibilities for career and training activities.
  • Assist the Director in promoting craft training initiatives at divisional meetings and job sites.
  • Contribute to the development of new training programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with regional managers on training and development efforts.
Qualifications
  • Proven journey-level expertise in one or more trades: Carpentry, Concrete, Civil, Pipe, Structural Steel, Survey, Equipment Operation, or Mechanical/Millwright.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • At least 3 years of experience mentoring early-career craft professionals as a Journeyman, Foreman, or Superintendent.
  • NCCER Craft Instructor certification, or the ability to obtain it.
  • Willingness to travel regularly (40-60%) to job sites and regional offices, with most weekends spent at home.
  • Commitment to a 2-year rotation for internal qualification.
