Job Overview

Position Title: After School Program Staff

Role Summary: The After School Program Staff is a part-time, seasonal position that reports to the Director of Extended Day, contributing to the enrichment initiatives of the Fay School. This role encompasses various auxiliary childcare services, including the Stay at Fay Extended Day program, After School Activities, Early Day at Fay, and the summer camp FAYcation. The After School Program Staff is responsible for providing adaptable childcare that fosters an environment supportive of learning and personal development. This position requires supervision and a creative, energetic approach to encourage children’s engagement through diverse activities and experiences. The After School Program Staff builds strong relationships with children, colleagues, and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure supervision and guidance align with program policies and are appropriate for the students' age and needs.
  • Understand and uphold the mission and policies of the school, addressing any questions or concerns with relevant colleagues and supervisors.
  • Collaborate with peers in the design and execution of program activities.
  • Exemplify integrity, curiosity, responsibility, creativity, and respect for all individuals, while appreciating diversity in race, culture, religion, and gender.
  • Monitor student safety and maintain appropriate supervision ratios at all times.
  • Support the school’s leadership and initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of School.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred post-secondary degree.
  • Experience in child supervision within a day program is preferred.
  • Experience working in a children’s day program is preferred.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with faculty, staff, vendors, students, and parents.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Effective written and spoken English communication skills.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, navigating stairs, kneeling, and lifting up to 20 lbs, while monitoring children and the environment audibly and visibly.
  • Capability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions and on different surfaces.
