Job Overview:
  JCC Greater Boston is seeking a part-time Water Safety Specialist for our Adapted Aquatics program. This role involves teaching skills that enrich the lives of children and adults with disabilities, utilizing a supportive environment to foster confidence and develop swimmer proficiency.

  About the Position:
  Salary: $35-$45 per hour, with approximately +/-15 hours/week. The starting pay rate will be determined by relevant qualifications and experience, as well as internal pay equity.

  Responsibilities:
  
  • Create a safe and supportive environment for swimmers with special needs.
  • Establish individual swim goals and help swimmers meet swim skill benchmarks that create water safety and overall swim abilities.
  • Use discretion to adapt the approach as needed to meet the unique needs of each swimmer.
  • Provide ongoing communication with supervisors regarding classes and programming.
  • Recognize and respond according to emergency protocols.
  • Teach swimmers using prior experience and predesigned lessons, requiring hands-on work in the pool with young children.

  Requirements:
  
  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 6 months of prior experience working with persons with disabilities in adapted spaces, including children and adults.

  • Demonstrates effective communication with community members and coworkers.
  • Calm, patient, flexible, creative, and empathic.
  • Dedication to helping children and adults achieve their goals.
  • A strong customer service orientation and team player approach.
