Job Summary
We are seeking an Aquatic Development Coach to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring program excellence and encouraging program expansion. As a coach, you will be responsible for preparing practices, coordinating training methodologies, and developing responsibilities and rules for swimmers, coaches, and parents.

This is a full-time position based in Newton, Massachusetts. The starting hourly salary for this position is $23.05 - $25.50 per hour, which would commensurate to $45,448 - $53,227 annually. The salary offered will ultimately be determined by the hours the employee will work, the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.

Responsibilities
Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:
  • Preparing practices on a weekly basis based on the phase of training and swimmers' needs/ability, maintaining a focus on technique, skill development, and athlete development.
  • Coordinating training methodologies, drills, and practice group goals with the Head Coach.
  • Developing responsibilities and rules for swimmers, coaches, and parents, educating each group on these norms.
  • Ensuring open communication with parents to ensure education and communication on all aspects of long-term athletic development.
  • Collaborating closely with the Aquatics Staff and other coaches to promote the club as a whole.
  • Managing the recruitment, retention, and individual development plans for new athletes.
  • Providing assistance to the Aquatics Head Coach with the overflow of administrative tasks.
  • Supporting JCC Greater Boston's mission, values, and strategic goals.
  • Attending coach's meetings (approximately 4-5/year).
  • Contributing to overall organizational success.

Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have a USA Swimming Coaches Certification or the ability to obtain coaches certification within the first 14 days of hire. Additionally, you must possess lifeguard, CPR/AED/First Aid certification. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC's discretion to meet minimum criteria.

Able to exhibit strong, effective teaching/communication skills. Knowledgeable of strokes and skill techniques. Has knowledge of season/workout planning and dryland training/technique. Is able to see, hear, and cognitively recognize situations requiring lifeguarding services; make safety-related decisions; communicate with community members and coworkers in person effectively, over email, and on the phone; read, write, understand, and speak English; work in a high temperature and high humidity environment for extended periods while wearing required personal protective equipment; stand, sit, and lay on the pool deck while moving their body in a way similar to how the participants in the water should (demonstrating); lift up to 30 pounds; stand, walk, sit, stoop, and kneel frequently.
