Senior Metrology Process Specialist

Position Overview:
The Senior Metrology Process Specialist will play a crucial role in developing and executing inspection methodologies for intricate additive structures.
This position involves the successful design and implementation of production inspection protocols utilizing point cloud data (such as 3D scanning, CT, and CMM data) through various industry-standard software tools (e.g., Polyworks, PC-DMIS, etc.). The individual will also oversee the transition of these programs to external resources while continuously enhancing existing inspection protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support site metrology initiatives
- Assist in the development and execution of thorough training programs for inspection technologies
- Help establish, integrate, and promote metrology best practices and standards
- Design inspection protocols for additive manufacturing hardware
- Facilitate the transition of programs to external partners
- Develop, configure, and optimize industrial processes from inception to startup and certification.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers to align additive drawing specifications with NDT technologies, inspection capabilities, and process capabilities.
- Assist in specifying and developing inspection technologies to accommodate future additive complexities.
- Evaluate processes, conduct measurements, interpret data, and document findings.
- Effectively communicate project results to senior management.
- Lead initiatives aimed at designing, testing, and upgrading systems and processes.
- Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to enhance technology and processes related to additive inspection and NDT.
- Conduct audits of process-specific work instructions.
- Perform risk assessments of additive print dimensioning.
- Provide process documentation and operational guidelines.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of metrology/inspection experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in metrology/inspection.
Desired Skills:
- Fundamental knowledge of statistics
- Over 3 years of experience in PolyWorks and PC-DMIS programming.
- Proficient in GD&T measurements inspection
- Advanced knowledge of point cloud data inspection technologies, including white/blue light and laser scanning
- Familiarity with common additive NDT inspection processes such as X-ray, CT, and CMM
- Understanding of additive manufacturing
- Proficient in 3D CAD software, particularly NX
