Environmental Compliance Specialist

The Environmental Compliance Officer will ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including but not limited to the DOT, EPA, OSHA, Corps of Engineers, and DEC. This role will develop, review, update, and monitor PWSAC practices, policies, standards, systems, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental statues, regulations, and rules.
Key Responsibilities- Develops, oversees, and is accountable for PWSAC implementation of the Environmental Compliance Program, including but not limited to continuous development and maintenance of the Environmental Compliance Manual and the creation of and delivering agency-compliant, approved training programs.
- Develops, oversees, and manages the environmental compliance program for PWSAC to include strong recommendations for process changes and disciplinary action when warranted.
- Coordinates and maintains agency-compliant records for environmental compliance program, including tracking submittals to ensure required agency submissions, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinates and facilitates approved third-party consultant visits and activities.
- Provides access upon approval from supervisor to pertinent PWSAC documents, personnel, and facilities to approved third-party auditors or independent consultants upon request.
- Conducts assessments of each facility's environmental compliance performance on an assigned schedule.
- Consistently promotes and raises awareness within PWSAC of environmental risks and issues.
- Consistent coordination and cooperation with the Health and Safety Compliance Officer.
- Travel to remote hatcheries as necessary.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in environmental compliance, business administration, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in an HSE role preferred.
- Alaska environmental compliance experience preferred.
- Current, valid driver's license.
