Position Title: Senior Accountant

Reporting Line: Senior Controller

Role Summary:

The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in delivering accounting support to the Senior Controller. This position involves documenting daily and monthly financial transactions while ensuring compliance with US-GAAP accounting standards. Responsibilities include preparing records, conducting research, and generating reports related to general ledger operations, month-end closing procedures, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and audits. The role may also involve undertaking special projects related to financial control tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compile analyses, accruals, and journal entries for month-end closing activities.
  • Execute reconciliations for inventory, accruals, fixed assets, and other accounts.
  • Collaborate with parent and sister companies to ensure timely intercompany reconciliations and assist in the preparation of periodic financial statements.
  • Conduct detailed project cost analyses upon job completion to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Apply cost accounting principles pertinent to the manufacturing sector, regularly analyze and report on cost and inventory variances, and collaborate with departmental members to address issues.
  • Manage the cycle counting program and implement comprehensive internal controls over inventory processes and transactions.
  • Oversee accounts payable to maintain financial integrity and internal controls; provide robust backup for daily operations as needed.
  • Support annual audits and tax preparation efforts to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and refine processes to enhance departmental efficiency; actively participate in the SAP implementation for the financial module and become a key user post-implementation, sharing best practices with colleagues.
  • Prepare sales and use tax returns, 1099 forms, and assist with annual audits and tax compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or CMA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and standards (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with ERP systems is advantageous.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
