At University Health, we are committed to delivering high-quality patient-centered care. We are seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct and indirect patient care activities and perform clerical duties.

Job Summary

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for caring for the comfort and personal needs of patients, providing direct patient care as needed, and collecting, interpreting, and documenting information related to patient care accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cares for comfort and personal needs of patients.
  • Provides direct patient care as needed.
  • Collects, interprets and documents information related to patient care accurately and efficiently.
  • Performs procedures as directed by the Medical Director (E, 10%).
  • Maintains quality control logs in area of assignment for CLIA waived labs.
  • Performs CLIA waived labs such as Accu-checks, Urine Beta HCG, Dipstick UA, etc.
  • Takes vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure).
  • Collects blood, urine, stool and sputum specimens.
  • Administers medications and immunizations in accordance with clinic policy.
  • Documents and bills appropriately for all nursing charges.
  • Provides clerical support to include preparing lab requests, scheduling appointments, contacting patient's by telephone to reschedule clinic cancelled appointments, obtaining referral authorization for initial visit and any requested follow-up visits to Specialty Care Physician.
  • Informs patients when referral is authorized and facilitates scheduling of specialty appointments and/or ancillary services.
  • Perform telephone call reminders for scheduled appointments.

Requirements

A High school diploma or GED is required. Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited school or certification from an approved credentialing body for medical assistants is required.

Must have current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Card. National certification as a registered Medical Assistant is preferred.

We offer a competitive salary range of $40,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience.
