Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Educational Specialist II to join our team at Baltimore City Public Schools. This is a full-time position that will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of professional learning opportunities for our staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all professional learning activities originating in the Office of Special Education.
  • Partner with academic offices to ensure that professional development opportunities address the needs of our diverse learners.
  • Design and support high-quality professional development that promotes meaningful differentiation and instructional design.
  • Develop guidance on current best practices in professional learning and instructional design.
  • Ensure all professional learning offerings align with City Schools' timelines and expectations.
  • Plan, organize, and implement professional development programming for OSE staff.
  • Develop and monitor the professional learning session vetting process.
  • Stay up-to-date on current research in the field to ensure professional learning is reflective of best practice.
  • Collaborate with staff across the district to support professional learning.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in education, instructional design, or a related field.
  • Three years of teaching experience, preferably with students with special needs.
  • Valid Maryland State Department of Education Advanced Professional Certificate.
  • Knowledge of federal and state legislation governing the education of students with disabilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time management, organization, and leadership skills.
