The Baltimore City Public School System is seeking a highly qualified Mathematics Education Specialist II to join our team. This is a full-time position that will play a critical role in the development and implementation of mathematics curriculum and assessments for elementary grades.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver professional development programs for teachers on best practices in elementary mathematics instruction.
- Support the implementation of district mathematics initiatives and participate in the evaluation and selection of instructional materials.
- Coordinate and develop curriculum and assessments for mathematics, using data to strategically support the needs of teachers and schools.
- Work collaboratively with a team of educators to advance teaching and learning in the district.
- Perform and promote all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies.
- Master's degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Three years of teaching experience in mathematics, with experience teaching multiple grade levels and urban experience preferred.
- Valid Maryland State Department of Education Advanced Professional Certificate.
- Three years of experience developing and delivering professional development to teachers on the Maryland College and Career-Readiness Standards for Mathematics, with district-level experience preferred.
- Experience coaching classroom teachers and teacher teams.
- Strong organization and strategic planning skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
- Experience managing large-scale projects.
- Knowledge of current research in mathematics best practices and adult learning and facilitation.
- Knowledge of the Maryland College and Career-Readiness Standards for Mathematics.
- Ability to lead and motivate a productive team of individuals.
- Commitment to educational equity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of multiple computer applications, including Office 365, Google Workspace, and online professional learning software.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, rules, and policies affecting City Schools' educators.
