Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Specialist Flow Cytometry to join our team at Cone Health. This role plays a critical role in the administration and coordination of technical activities of laboratory personnel, ensuring adherence to established practices, protocols, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain current theoretical knowledge of testing methods, techniques, procedures, and instrumentation, including bone marrow and flow cytometry procedures, to effectively perform all technical activities of the section and ensure accurate and reliable laboratory results.
  • Provide technical guidance and instruction to personnel outside the Flow Cytometry laboratory to ensure standardized and accurate laboratory practices across different areas, thus improving patient care.
  • Develop and perform quality control procedures to ensure the reliability of testing and proper functioning of laboratory equipment, while maintaining comprehensive quality control records.
  • Assist in the evaluation and implementation of testing methods, techniques, and procedures for laboratory application, ensuring the adoption of effective and validated methodologies leading to more accurate diagnoses and improved patient outcomes.
  • Assist in evaluating new laboratory equipment to ensure effective technical operation, contributing to the acquisition of reliable and efficient instrumentation for accurate testing.
  • Develop procedures manuals and seek approval from pathologists for new or significantly edited procedures, ensuring standardized protocols and compliance with best practices.
Requirements
  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science. OR Bachelor's degree in another field with a minimum of 60 Semester Hours specifically including, 6 hours of Chemistry, 6 hours of Biology and 12 additional hours in any combination of Chemistry, Biology or Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • EXPERIENCE: 4 years of experience in Flow Cytometry, Immunology or Hematology
  • LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: MT or MLS (ASCP) or other comparable lab certification. ASCP Specialist in Hematology, Immunology, or Cytometry is preferred.
