Job Description

A Senior Civil Engineer is a key member of the Civil/Site design team at Colliers Engineering & Design. This role is responsible for various technical aspects of land development projects, including site feasibility and conceptual planning, detailed grading, drainage designs and profiles, stormwater management, and designing Erosion & Sedimentation Pollution Control (E&SPC) Best Management Practices (BMPs).

Responsibilities
  • Perform design tasks, such as conceptual planning, detailed grading, and drainage designs associated with civil engineering construction projects.
  • Prepare stormwater management calculations, including developing basin routings, channel design, and inlet capacity calculations.
  • Generate pipe profiles and review stormwater designs based on project constraints.
  • Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions to peers and management.
  • Produce construction drawings, plans, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare PADEP Chapter 102 and Chapter 105 permits, including NPDES permits, General Permits, and other technical aspects of the regulatory permitting process.
  • Develop Erosion & Sedimentation Pollution Control (E&SPC) and Post-Construction Stormwater Management (PCSM) plan sets and reports.
  • Conform to the company's standard AutoCAD procedures for layering, details, etc.
  • Provide technical support to more senior staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification, preferred.
  • 2-4 years of civil engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated AutoCAD Civil 3D skills with the ability to design from concept plans through construction plans.
  • Ability to interact well with coworkers, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with analytical and judgment capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Experience in land development.
  • Knowledge of local city, county, and state land use processes and regulations (PA).
  • Proficiency in technical skills in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading, and other site development related designs, preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
