ENTRY SALARY: $73,000 or $25.93 to $29.51 (Plus Benefits)

Woodbury County is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Civil Engineering Intern or Engineering Technician. This position is essential for the effective management and oversight of various construction projects related to secondary roads.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • Conducting thorough inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of engineering projects, including road and bridge design.
  • Collaborating with the County Engineer to develop long-term infrastructure maintenance strategies.
  • Evaluating and recommending solutions for rural and municipal infrastructure issues.
  • Preparing and maintaining detailed project documentation, including reports and inspection records.
  • Monitoring contractor performance to ensure adherence to project specifications and timelines.
  • Participating in field surveys and assisting in the preparation of engineering plans and specifications.
QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited Civil or Construction Engineering program.
  • Experience in engineering-related work, particularly in construction and design.
  • A valid Professional Engineer license in the state of Iowa is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and county infrastructure maintenance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders and maintain effective working relationships.
