Key Responsibilities
  • Leave Processing: Process new leaves and follow up on assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Eligibility Determination: Determine the eligibility and availability of leave time for employees requesting leave under FMLA, state, and corporate protections.
  • Communication: Generate and send communications to comply with FMLA regulations and customer procedures.
  • Medical Certification Review: Review medical certifications and other documentation submitted, and consult with Nurse Case Managers and IME units as needed.
  • Leave Status Determination: Determine the appropriate status of leave under FMLA and state leave regulations, considering regulatory requirements, company-specific requirements, and analysis of documentation received.
  • Communication with Internal Units: Communicate medical or absence information with other internal units, such as STD and Intake.
  • Leave Management: Manage leaves through duration, reporting status to employers, employees, and other internal units.
  • Issue Resolution: Respond to leave questions and issues from employees or employer contacts.
Requirements
  • Training and Certification: Successful completion of the Leave Management training program, passing score on the final exam, and quality audit and mentor sign-off.
  • Education: 4-year degree or similar experience preferred.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and customer relationship skills, with the ability to communicate effectively via telephone, email, and written correspondence.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of Windows, general keyboard and computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Decision Making and Analytical Skills: Strong decision-making and analytical skills, with the ability to exercise independent judgment and critical thinking.
  • Attention to Detail and Organizational Skills: Attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
