Telecommunications Field Specialist

Position Overview:
The role involves executing tasks at client locations throughout the United States in collaboration with fellow Decommissioning team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the return of both new and previously used client materials back into inventory.
- Process requests from engineering teams within the Network Operations sector that facilitate deployments across the U.S., translating these into a detailed request sheet for necessary equipment collection.
- Coordinate travel arrangements for Decommissioning activities.
- Comply with client security and safety protocols.
- Assist in the preparation of Decommissioning projects by conducting thorough research and providing constructive feedback during team meetings prior to project initiation.
- Conduct part identification and input data into the inventory management system.
- Perform configuration checks on high-value items and update documentation accordingly.
- Safely remove telecommunications equipment from client sites.
- Repackage high-value items following established packaging guidelines.
- Prepare materials for secure shipping and facilitate handovers to courier teams.
- Maintain and update the inventory management system.
- Participate in and contribute to regular team meetings.
- Provide weekly activity feedback during team meetings.
- Update documentation related to change requests for equipment and packaging modifications.
- During less busy periods, contribute to ongoing projects as needed.
- Support virtual decommissioning efforts.
- Assist fellow engineers in verifying parts and proper packaging techniques via video conferencing.
- Travel will be necessary for training during the initial period, followed by approximately 30% travel and 70% local engagements.
- Submit weekly expense reports in accordance with company policies.
- Attend all required client team meetings.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations in the warehouse, including the safe handling of ESD components.
- Follow all travel policies diligently.
- Maintain client confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma.
- 3-5 years of experience in telecommunications.
- Prior experience in handling expensive equipment.
- Familiarity with inventory control and management systems.
- Proficient in computer applications, with intermediate skills in Word, Excel, and email (knowledge of Google Docs is a plus).
- Able to work independently without direct supervision.
- Experience with electronic and telecommunication hardware.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Proficient in handling and resolving customer inquiries.
- Capable of lifting heavy objects (100 lbs+).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational and business administration skills.
- Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and conflicting priorities effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work productively and efficiently under tight deadlines while maintaining quality.
- Strong team-building capabilities.
- Knowledge of Optical Link Characterization, including:
- End face connector inspection.
- Insertion Loss measurement.
- Distance measurement.
- Connector and splice measurements.
- Reflectance measurements.
- Optical return loss (ORL) measurements.
- Chromatic Dispersion (CD) measurements.
- Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD) measurements.
- Basic understanding of AC/DC power and voltmeter usage.
- Basic knowledge of electrostatic discharge and safety precautions.
