Job Overview

Position Summary: The Fleet Mechanic plays a crucial role in assisting the Vehicle Maintenance Manager with the upkeep and repair of the vehicle and equipment fleet, adhering to all relevant regulations and the Dodge Ridge Maintenance Program. This role demands a solid mechanical understanding, the ability to troubleshoot various machinery and components, and a commitment to safety in all tasks. The Fleet Mechanic is an essential member of the Dodge Ridge team.

Key Responsibilities:

This description serves as a summary of the primary duties and qualifications for the position. It is not exhaustive of all tasks that may be assigned or all qualifications that may be necessary.

  1. Assist in and oversee the maintenance and repair of the Dodge Ridge vehicle and equipment fleet.
  2. Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance.
  3. Perform diagnostic evaluations and troubleshoot to identify malfunctions. Repair electrical systems, including starting mechanisms, lighting, wiring, switches, and engine controls; conduct tune-ups and performance assessments.
  4. Maintain detailed and accurate logs of daily, weekly, and monthly repairs and preventive maintenance.
  5. Utilize all repair manuals and maintenance resources effectively.
  6. Manage inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  7. Meet service objectives and departmental standards as established by the supervisor.
  8. Ensure proper use and care of communication equipment.
  9. Assist with additional maintenance projects as directed.
  10. Perform weekly cleaning of the Fleet Maintenance Shop and facilities.
Safety Responsibilities:
  1. Utilize appropriate safety equipment for all tasks.
  2. Identify, report, and rectify any safety hazards in the work environment.
  3. Operate vehicles safely across various terrains.
  4. Understand and adhere to the Dodge Ridge Safety Plan.
  5. Maintain a high level of organization, professionalism, and cleanliness in all work areas, ensuring proper care and safety procedures for tools and equipment.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated mechanical training and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude, with effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and write clearly and utilize good composition skills for records and reports.
  • Basic mathematical proficiency.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, task-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment, requiring hearing protection.
  • Willingness to learn and understand equipment needs and standard care procedures.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Good physical condition, as the role involves prolonged standing and snow shoveling.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs. with assistance) and tolerate heights.
  • Good manual dexterity and physical skills.
  • Valid driver's license and compliance with the Motor Vehicle Record qualifications.
Work Environment:

Work schedules may vary based on weather conditions and guest volume. Typically, employees may work 40 to 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. Transportation to work must be arranged to ensure timely arrival at designated workstations, often requiring driving on challenging road conditions.

Uniform Requirements:

A professional appearance is mandatory. Employees are expected to wear their name tag and uniform during scheduled shifts. Most uniform items will be provided, but some personal items must be approved by management prior to use.
