About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Architectural Designer to join our team at Stantec. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for developing elevations, sections, 3D renderings, and architectural details for projects. Your expertise in sustainable design and green architecture will be essential in creating innovative and creative new prototypes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize building designs from both functional and aesthetic perspectives, taking into account client requirements, budget, and program.
  • Develop designs through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats to express design intent and communicate with project teams, clients, and building users.
  • Utilize BIM technologies to develop three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
  • Participate in design critiques and pin-ups, ensuring design excellence and collaboration.
  • Evaluate and select building systems and materials, coordinating them to ensure compatibility with design intent.
  • Implement sustainable design principles into designs and environments, analyzing sites to incorporate geotechnical, hydrological, environmental, social, economic, and contextual conditions.
  • Participate in program development and pre-design efforts, ensuring design intent is maintained through documentation and construction.
  • Lead project teams and design critiques, participating in employee performance reviews and interviews of potential employees.
Qualifications
  • Ability to engage in creative and critical thought, producing design at an excellent level.
  • Hand sketching and communicating concepts and ideas effectively.
  • Participating in project teams and leading teams on medium-sized projects through design concept development.
  • Checking work for accuracy and completeness, managing teams to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Interpreting sketches, drawings, codes, building programs, and other similar materials.
  • Presenting abstract ideas to clients and client representatives.
  • Applying accessibility codes, building codes, and life-safety codes to various project scopes and complexities.
  • General knowledge of building construction systems, constructability, materials, and industry-associated standards.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUP, Newforma, Sefaira, and recent modeling software.
Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field, working towards licensure. Minimum of 3 years of experience. LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.

Typical office environment with computers and sedentary work. Field work may include exposure to elements, including inclement weather.
