Job Summary

Under the direction of the Special Education Director/Student Support Services Director, the District Nurse conducts a professional health service program for the health maintenance, evaluation, improvement, and protection of the school community, pupils, and families in accordance with state law and district policies, regulations, and procedures; strengthens and facilitates the educational process by improving and protecting the health status of children and by identification and assistance in the removal or modification of health-related barriers to learning in individual children.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive health services program for the district.
  • Conduct health assessments and provide medical care to students as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to identify and address health-related barriers to learning.
  • Provide health education and promote healthy behaviors among students, families, and staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to student health services.
Requirements
  • Possess and maintain a valid Registered Nurse License issued by the State of California and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential authorizing service as a School Nurse.
  • Possess and maintain a current healthcare provider Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Possession of a Valid California Driver's License.
  • School Audiometric Certification desired.
