Job Summary

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Senior MRI Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing complex MRI procedures, reviewing requisitions, and evaluating patient charts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Imaging Expertise: Perform complex MRI procedures on a scheduled and emergency basis, utilizing your expertise to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
  • Requisition Review: Review and evaluate requisitions for MRI imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs.
  • Patient Identification: Identify patients according to Hospital Policy with 2 identifiers, ensuring accurate and efficient patient care.
  • Equipment Selection: Select appropriate equipment and technical parameters to identify pathologic and normal anatomy, maintaining high-quality imaging standards.
  • Patient Care: Assess patients' and parents' physical and emotional status, developing a care plan to meet their specific needs and providing exceptional care and service.
  • Communication: Explain the examination and answer questions from patients and parents regarding the exam and Magnetic field environment, promoting transparency and trust.
  • Quality Control: Follow MR QC Exam/Data Integrity workflow expectations, ensuring accurate and reliable imaging results.
  • High Reliability Communication: Practice High Reliability Communication techniques, promoting a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Team Collaboration: Respond to the uniqueness of each patient, creating a supportive environment for patients and families, and collaborating with colleagues to achieve exceptional patient care.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Identify and report equipment malfunctions through the INeedit application, ensuring prompt maintenance and minimizing downtime.
  • Operational Support: Assist in organizing and maintaining daily operations, including inventory review, ordering supplies, and participating in QA/QC projects.
  • Leadership: Fill in for manager or Assistant/Chief Technologist as necessary, monitoring and maintaining daily operations of clinical area, and acting as a champion for new equipment or processes.
  • Training and Development: Participate in precepting new staff, training fellows, residents, students, and staff in imaging procedures and techniques, and furthering professional education and maintaining knowledge of current regulations and standards.
Requirements
  • Education: Registered Radiologic Technologist- MRI and Associates Degree: Allied Health.
  • Experience: 3 years of experience working as an MRI Technologist.
