Job Summary
Atrium Health is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. You will operate MRI scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency, ensuring the highest quality images for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine requests and verify orders on each assigned patient, referring and questioning orders to the Radiologist as needed.
- Properly identify patients and assist them while offering a brief explanation of the procedures, preparing them for the exam with a full explanation and documenting on appropriate worksheets.
- Interview patients for a complete medical history, reviewing in-patients, ER, and outpatients EMR's to obtain pertinent clinical history and recording medical history on requisitions.
- Assume responsibility for the exam from beginning to completion, preparing and administering IV contrast according to departmental protocols and evaluating the technical quality of images.
- Perform basic patient care functions, informing nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition and initiating life support measures as necessary.
- Operate radiology computer systems to enter orders and charge procedures/supplies, documenting contrast administration in the MAR.
- Maintain assigned work areas in a neat and orderly fashion, keeping areas completely stocked and cleaning all work areas to promote cleanliness in the workplace.
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA approved program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology or active enrollment in a ARMRIT or ARRT registry eligible program required. ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology, ARRT or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine with advanced registry from the ARMRIT or ARRT in MRI required within one year of hire. CPR certification required.
Physical Requirements
Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies. Occasional standing, walking, and sitting during normal operation. Frequently may be required to stretch, bend, twist, squat, or kneel in the daily operation of the MRI department.
