We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at Ochsner Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care and support to patients under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.
- Assist in the implementation of the delivery of health care services, including appointment scheduling and medical assistant functions.
- Collect and process patient information, including demographic and financial data.
- Prepare patients for exams, explain procedures, and answer patient questions.
- Schedule and reschedule patient appointments, including transferring patients to the appropriate departments.
- Adapt behavior to meet the specific needs of patients, including respect for privacy and communication style.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred.
- Related experience in a clinic or medical office setting preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Certification in Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM), Certification in Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA), or Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred.
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in handling/escalating difficult situations.
The incumbent works in a patient care area, works in an area where patients enter, works directly with patients, and/or works with specimens that could contain diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.
