Position Overview

The Certification Engineer III is responsible for securing and upholding third-party agency certifications for designated product categories within Franklin Electric Fueling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engages in the Product Development Process as a Project Team Support Member, contributing to the DFMEA and DVP&R processes, while identifying and interpreting certification requirements and managing agency certification tasks.
  • Creates certification testing plans and supervises internal certification evaluations. Determines necessary tests for certification and prepares test requests.
  • Assesses certification test outcomes to ensure product compliance, comparing results against established standards and providing explanations for test findings.
  • Collaborates with certifying agencies to initiate and finalize certification projects.
  • Prepares and submits comprehensive certification test results and reports.
  • Interprets and clarifies technical documentation.
  • Oversees in-house agency certification testing programs and conducts internal audits to ensure adherence to program standards.
  • Monitors changes in Agency Standards and initiates product or certification updates as required to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains accurate records of product certifications.
  • Provides assistance to manufacturing facilities regarding certification-related inquiries.
  • Supports certifying agency inspectors during factory evaluations, as necessary.
  • Leads regular documentation reviews to ensure compliance with Certification File requirements.
  • Evaluates proposed engineering modifications and requests for temporary deviations, determining their acceptability and initiating certification updates when warranted.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.
  • Comprehends product specifications and functionalities, translating them into validation criteria.
Position QualificationsSkills and Abilities
  • Thorough understanding of relevant certifying agency standards, testing protocols, and certification processes.
  • Able to plan and lead certification initiatives involving cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Knowledgeable in physical principles and laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understand fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics; familiar with mechanical and electrical structures and processes.
  • Capable of analyzing information and evaluating results to select optimal solutions and resolve issues.
  • Skilled in identifying underlying principles and breaking down information into distinct components.
  • Effectively communicates information and addresses inquiries in both individual and small group settings with clients, the general public, and colleagues.
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion with sensitive business information.
  • Reads and comprehends documents such as policy manuals, safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedural guidelines.
  • Writes routine reports and correspondence with clarity.
  • Utilizes common-sense understanding to execute written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, materials science, or a related discipline (required).
  • Three to five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Preferred experience includes:
    • Certifications in the fueling industry.
    • Knowledge of Hazardous Locations, UL, ATEX, RoHS, and/or IECEx certifications.
Computer Skills
  • Basic: Proficient in Microsoft Office.
