Hayes Company / Knight-Swift Warehousing and Fulfillment is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our warehouse. The ideal candidate will have a sharp business acumen with extensive experience in warehouse management systems (WMS), warehousing, and third-party logistics (3PL) operations. This person will be able to develop and maintain a culture of trust, diversity, and inclusion within the operations team.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Strategically and tactically manage the warehouse in compliance with the company's policies and vision.
- Lead, motivate, and support a large team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including career development plans for direct reports and operational problem resolution.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve warehouse systems and fulfillment processes to drive efficiency, accuracy, and cost savings.
- Partner with HR to establish organizational staffing, performance management procedures, and overall training for the site warehouse.
- Help promote a company culture that encourages trust and high morale by providing inspired leadership for the organization.
- Evaluate and implement safety and security protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all employees.
- Proactively work to promote a growth mindset with a large team that achieves organizational and site objectives.
- Manage a team of employees, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure team members are meeting performance targets.
- Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with a track record of managing and developing teams.
- Proficiency in WMS and other warehouse technologies, with the ability to manage these systems.
- Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety and security protocols, with experience developing and implementing these protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and address operational challenges.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a sense of urgency and a focus on results.
- Ability to travel to different sites of the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field, preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in warehouse and fulfillment operations, with a focus on WMS and 3PL operations.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to wear proper safety gear, such as closed-toe shoes.
- Must be able to utilize knowledge of warehousing safety practices.
- Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance - First of the month after 30 days of employment.
