Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Specialist 2 to join our team at the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities. As a Medical Specialist 2, you will provide primary care to assigned patients with developmental disabilities, ensuring their diagnosis and treatment needs are met. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and provide medical interpretation and communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary care to assigned patients with developmental disabilities, including diagnosis and treatment of all conditions.
  • Coordinate care with sub-specialists, imaging facilities, and laboratory testing.
  • Ensure all appropriate preventive care, including immunizations according to CDC/ACIP standards.
  • Provide overnight telephone coverage as Practitioner On Call on a rotating schedule.
  • Participate in facility-wide committees and compliance with oversight entities.
  • Maintain qualifications for Specialty and Medicare and Medicaid certification.
Requirements
  • License to practice medicine in New York State.
  • Certification by a Member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in your specialty.
  • Ability to work effectively within the treatment team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to serve as a role model and act independently.
